Now the Terps are playing a LSU team that had a similar scoring game with their starters in their 79-74, win over the Yale Bulldogs.
Junior guard Anthony Cowan and freshman guard Eric Ayala were ice cold to start the game, combining to shoot 3-of-17 from the field in the first half, including 0-of-8 from 3-point range. They came out of in the second half and outscored Belmont 45-37 to make it a close battle. The Terps' next opponent, LSU, is extremely athletic and had seven steals against Yale in their opening-round victory. Junior guard Skylar Mays led the way for the Tigers with 19 points and three rebounds followed by double-doubles from forwards Naz Reid (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Kavell Bigby-Williams (10 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks). Belmont won the regular season title outright, but lost in the OVC Tournament Championship game to Murray State. Both losses came against Florida.
This will be the fifth ever meeting between LSU and Maryland in an NCAA men's basketball game.
