United face Messi again, City take on Tottenham

Liverpool will believe they have one foot in the next round after being paired with FC Porto, but with the draw also mapping out the route to the final with potential semifinals too, how will the quarterfinals play out?

Tottenham and Manchester City will face each other in an all-English quarter-final of the Champions League next month.

This quarter final against Ronald Koeman's PSV side looked to be a tricky task for the Reds, but thanks to goals from Steven Gerrard, John Arne Riise and Peter Crouch, Liverpool could look forward to a comfortable evening in Merseyside in the second leg.

Not all the memories are bad for Man United, however.

Liverpool FC have suffered something of a dip in form in recent weeks but they are now just a point behind the defending champions as they chase their first major trophy under Jurgen Klopp.

Jurgen Klopp says that he does not have to spend big money to improve Liverpool further, but instead keep his current group together for a number of years.

Liverpool have won 17, drawn four and lost six of their 27 Premier League meetings with the Cottagers.

The Blues last lifted the trophy back in 2011 when a solitary strike from Yaya Toure edged them past Stoke at Wembley and secured a first piece of silverware in the Sheikh Mansour era.

Liverpool went on to thrash Los Blancos 4-0 at Anfield two weeks later to progress to the quarter finals.

"That was maybe the main problem of Liverpool for the last decade".

Ajax vs. Juventus and Manchester United vs. Barcelona are at 3 p.m. April 10.

Juve have huge experience in the knockout stages of the Champions League, and the Italian champions are desperate to end their 23-year wait for their third European Cup.

Former England and Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello called Messi one of football's three "geniuses," while Jamie Carragher recently showered him with praise.

Buoyant after a magnificent victory away to Bayern Munich took them into the Champions League quarter-finals, Liverpool have the chance to return to the top of the Premier League over the worldwide break when they travel to Fulham on Sunday, with Manchester City in FA Cup action this weekend.

That result ended Atletico's dreams of reaching the final, which will be played at their Wanda Metropolitano stadium on Saturday, June 1.
