According to CNET, Facebook and its sister site Instagram have been having problems since 9 a.m. Wednesday. Problems range from pages not loading whatsoever to issues within Facebook Messenger. "Facebook Workplace is our only channel for [communication] with the exception of email". We can confirm that Facebook's Workplace and Work Chat apps are also affected by this outage.
Instead, many took to Twitter to voice their displeasure and to try to find out what was going on. The hashtag, #InstagramDown, is also trending on Twitter. Many report being unable to post, share, or like.
Some users reflected on how the outage had exposed their reliance on the social media networks. Social media users have written in from Canada and Las Vegas to point out the outages in their part of the world.
