Dozens Of Passengers Hurt When JFK-Bound Flight Hits Heavy Turbulence

Thirty people on board a flight from Turkey to NY were injured during severe turbulence over ME, with one person suffering a broken leg, officials said.

The National Weather Service's Aviation Weather Center had issued warnings for pilots flying over parts of America's east coast.

Flight TK01 encountered "unusual turbulence" about 40 minutes before landing at the airport, the airline said. Turkish Airlines officials were not immediately available for comment.

It was the second mishap on Saturday involving a plane in the NY metropolitan area.
