Tensions between Meghan Markle and her father went public Saturday when he let a British tabloid publish her anguished letter to him, People reports.

In her signature cursive handwriting, the letter begins, "Daddy, it is with a heavy heart that I write this, not understanding why you have chosen to take this path, turning a blind eye to the pain you're causing".

Meghan Markle sent the five-page letter to her father in August 2018 after it emerged he had been paid by photographers to stage images ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry. However, he denied Meghan Markle's claims that he hadn't tried to reach her and showed the publication texts to prove that he has tried to contact Meghan Markle and his son-in-law. How much longer must I say it??

Even before her tenure as Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle was a dedicated fan of shoe designer Sarah Flint.

"On a daily basis you fixated and clicked on the lies they were writing about me, especially those manufactured by your other daughter, who I barely know", Meghan wrote in the letter.

However, once the wedding was over, a rumoured rift emerged between father and daughter over his absence at the wedding and also his eagerness to talk to the media about his daughter. "You watched me silently suffer at the hand of her vicious lies, I crumbled inside".

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Mr Markle said that the letter wasn't the "olive branch" that he had hoped for.

It's no secret that Thomas Markle has some -issues.

He also claimed that he chose to share the letter now, after being attacked by Meghan's friends, to prove the tone of the letter was not as it was made to seem in the People interview.

Thomas Markle has released a private, handwritten letter from his daughter in which she implored: "Please stop creating so much pain". Last year, Queen Elizabeth II urged Markle and Prince Harry to address the Markle family debacle publicly, but now everyone is simply concerned for the duchess mental and physical well-being.

Kensington Palace have yet to confirm whether the interview was conducted with Meghan's blessing or knowledge of the Duke and Duchess's staff.

Meghan, who is now pregnant, revealed in mid January her baby is due around the end of April or beginning of May.
