National Weather Service Snow Forecasts Winter Storm Middle Atlantic States

Areas of northwest IN, including Michigan City and Gary, reported between 4 and 6 inches of fresh snow on Saturday, the weather service said. Forecasters predict Wake County will be largely spared of winter weather but will see rain.

The Winter Storm Warning is officially over. Those areas are expected to experience more downed trees and powerlines. Check with your local National Weather Service office for more details. Mainly rain is expected south of I-70. The wintry mix could leave a glaze of ice up to a quarter inch thick in the area north of Interstate 85. This will spread north and east through the night, leaving us with widespread snow close to and north of Rte. 460. Temperatures will drop back into the low 30s for highs by the end of the week.

The high temperature in Boston is not expected to exceed 26 degrees as a light northeast wind adds an edge, according to the weather service. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. That area could also experience power outages.
