Police are searching for Arroyo, who they say could face two misdemeanor charges for petty theft and prowling.
The couple had been out of town, during the odd incident, but their children were sleep inside the family's home.
However, the home's surveillance system notified them about movement in front of their home.
A family in Salinas called police after their security system caught the man going to town on their doorbell.

"I thought, 'Boy! There's a lot of traffic, '" Sylvia Dungan said.
"I thought I've seen it all, but this takes the cake", neighbour Alfred Santos told KION-TV.
The clear footage shows the man leaning his head against the intercom outside their front door and licking the doorbell from several different angles. 5 in the morning? "Well, then who the heck is that?'" Sylvia Dungan said.
While residents expressed concern over the incident, they also said he ultimately didn't do any real harm.
He may have also gone to a neighbor's home, too, according to the station. 'This just kind of reinforces how important it is to have security within your home'.
And although the situation is concerning, Dungan said she did laugh at the situation.
