First musical acts announced for 2019 Minnesota State Fair

Lead singer Darius Rucker told the TODAY Show Monday morning they are writing songs for a new album.

Twenty-five years after "Cracked Rear View" launched their careers, Grammy-winning rockers Hootie & the Blowfish will release a new album and launch an official tour next year after a decade-long break. Barenaked Ladies fans who have purchased VIP packages in the past will receive an exclusive code to purchase tickets early on Wednesday, December 5. The band formed by Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, Darius Rucker and Jim "Soni" Sonefeld during their time as students at the University of SC will visit 44 cities on the tour produced by Live Nation.

Tickets for both performances will be sold through www.etix.com, by calling 800-514-3849 or at the State Fairgrounds Ticket Office during limited hours 10 a.m.to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7. Tickets for the 44-show North American tour go on sale to the general public on Friday with pre-sale tickets starting on Monday.

The tour will kick off May 30, 2019 in Virginia Beach, Virginia and go on to hit 44 cities, including legendary venues like the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and Madison Square Garden in NY. "We've never stopped being a band".
