Side issues loom over G-20 summit as world leaders arrive

Chinese President Xi Jinping rallied developing nation leaders in attendance on Friday to condemn protectionism and laud the global rules-based order ahead of his highly anticipated dinner with US President Donald Trump on Saturday night. Trade analysts and administration officials acknowledge it won't be easy. It's unlikely the two countries will reach a full-blown resolution in Buenos Aires; the issues that divide them are just too hard.

Although the new pact inherits key features from the old one, Trump has declared it a victory for the U.S. workers he claims were cheated by NAFTA and on Friday called it the most "modern and balanced agreement in history".
