How the New York Public Library Engages Readers With Instagram Stories


Can you even consider someone a real friend if they don't choose you as their "close friend" on Instagram? The list can be accessed from the side menu on your profile. Unlike Facebook, which allows you to make posts that only certain friends can see, all Instagram stories have gone to all followers, be it your college buddies, your dad, or your boss (unless they're part of a direct message). From there, you can add your closest friends to the list.

On Friday, the photo-sharing network announced the ability to share Stories with a smaller group of friends.

Instagram Stories let you send disappearing messages to your friends, but until now, you had to send them to all your friends. It was inspired by user-based "Finstagrams", or fake Instagram accounts. It's very bad to think that everyone has more social media followers than you.

Instagram added Stories to its platform in 2016 and usage has taken off tremendously with 400 million people now using the feature daily.

There, you will see the date the account joined Instagram, the country where the account is located, accounts with shared followers, any username changes in the a year ago and any ads the account is now running.

Snapchat has had a similar custom Stories feature since previous year. However, it seems to apply only to Stories, not regular posts, for now.

Rival Snap Inc owner of Snapchat, which faces stiff competition from Instagram has been redesigning the app to lure more users and advertisers.
