Amazon (AMZN) Launches New Service To Build And Manage Blockchains

The cloud environment is built on Amazon SageMaker, a service that was launched previous year and created to make it cheaper for everyday developers to build, train and deploy machine learning "into a production-ready hosted environment".

AWS Managed Blockchain is a managed blockchain service which supports Ethereum and Hyperledger Fabric.

AWS said it will help developers get rolling with machine learning with AWS DeepRacer, a new 1/18th scale autonomous model race auto for developers, driven by reinforcement learning.

"We had a breakthrough a few months ago when we were working with a customer trying to get compute and storage from AWS on-premises, and connect back seamlessly with the rest of their AWS presence in the region closest to them, and we thought that could be a more generalised idea", Jassy said. Developers can now sell their ML models and algorithms on AWS Marketplace.

Amazon is reportedly coming up with a blockchain service to enable clients to create digital ledger networks without spending a penny of creating their own platform.

Amazon is the latest addition to the growing list of companies that are embracing the blockchain. Elastic Inference supports all popular frameworks, and is integrated with Amazon SageMaker and the Amazon EC2 Deep Learning Amazon Machine Image (AMI). To learn more about the DeepRacer League, visit:

AWS also announced a machine learning university training and certification program with more than 30 self-service, self-paced digital courses for developers, data scientists, data platform engineers and business professionals.

"All of these satellites collect a lot of data, and that's where things get even more interesting". SageMaker RL is now generally available. The company said it will make Neo available as an open source project.

The plan is to ensure that the service goes to thousands of applications. "This allows the user to focus on the businesses process rather than be tied down in the development grind of API code". A new process called AutoML, which automates complicated ML tasks, "performs and accelerates the hard work required to design, train, and deploy a machine learning model", the company says. You pay only for what you use and there are no minimum fees or upfront commitments.

Other AI services include Amazon "Textract" that extracts text and data from virtually any scanned document; Amazon "Personalize" and Amazon "Forecast" bring the same technology used by Amazon to developer, with no Machine Learning experience required; and Amazon "Comprehend Medical" tool provides Natural Language Processing (NLP) for medical information.

"Satellite data is incredibly useful for building a wide range of important applications, but it is super complex and expensive to build and operate the infrastructure needed to do so", Charlie Bell, AWS/SVP, said in a statement.

For example, as fast-moving environmental, geopolitical, or news events unfold on the ground, AWS Ground Station customers can downlink current data to any of the 12 AWS ground stations around the world and quickly combine the data with other AWS services to process, store, analyze, and transport the data to keep up with rapidly evolving conditions.
