Xiaomi launches in United Kingdom with new Mi 8 Pro

In the UK, Xiaomi will also open a brick-and-mortar Mi Store in Westfield London on 18th November.

The Chinese brand revealed the Redmi 6A, Mi 8 and Mi 8 Pro as the first phones that will hit the market.

The unbelievable promotion is part of a limited time "doorcrasher special" deal to mark Xiaomi's launch into the United Kingdom market. Rather unfortunately, the Mi A1, Mi A2, and Mi A2 Lite are apparently also scheduled for a Q1 2019 rollout.

Given the discount up for grabs, we seriously doubt this deal will be around for long - so best to set multiple alarms for 11:59am to make sure you're at your computer with credit card to hand when the deals kickstarts at midday.

In the camera department, the Xiaomi Mi 8 sports a dual rear camera setup with two 12-megapixel sensors with dual pixel autofocus, four-axis OIS, and 1.4-micron pixel size. This builds on the Mi 8 released earlier this year, with modern features including an in-screen fingerprint scanner, 6.21in AMOLED display - with a notch, yes - and Snapdragon 845 processor.

Xiaomi, the world's fourth-ranked smartphone maker, entered Britain on Thursday with the worldwide debut of its flagship Mi 8 Pro. The last batch of Mi 8 Lites (in that bluey/purple shade) go on sale at noon tomorrow. It comes in Transparent Titanium color and will be available through Three, Amazon, Argos, John Lewis, Carphone Warehouse, Currys PC World, Very, Mobile Phones Direct, Katana and Mi.com.

Those who aren't fast enough on the draw for the £1 promotion might be able to take advantage of another launch day promotion from Xiaomi.

Elsewhere, the 12MP+12MP (one wide-angle, one telephoto) camera configuration is the same as on the original Mi 8, with a Sony IMX363 primary sensor and Samsung S5K3M3 secondary sensor, and that phone scored 105 for photos according to DxOMark. That could soon be changing, however, as following a recent expansion into Spain and Italy, Xiaomi has now officially launched in the UK. As of today, Xiaomi is now sold in 74 markets worldwide.
