This year's Samsung Developers Conference was more about the software that the company will be bringing in the coming years.

When folded, the cover display, an OLED that functions as a notification center, measures 4.58 inches diagonally. Now, only a few months later, its quietly announced that device's follow-up: the Samsung Galaxy J4 Core.

The three new notched displays should be heading to new devices by 2019 and beyond.

The Verge's reporter Nick Statt said that when folded, the phone was "bulky" and "feels miles away in quality" from a high-end smartphone.

Royole said it would start filling orders in late December.

Samsung also used the developers conference to announce it would begin letting app developers use Bixby, its artificial-intelligence platform for Samsung's smartphones and home appliances.
