Newlywed couple killed in helicopter crash hours after wedding

Uvalde Police received a call from an aviation monitoring center around midnight Saturday notifying them of a possible downed aircraft.

The Houstonian student newspaper reported that the newlyweds were seniors at Sam Houston State University.

The helicopter's pilot was also killed when the aircraft struck a rural hillside. "We ask that you keep the families in your thoughts and prayers", said a tweet from the school paper.

A helicopter crash outside this south-central Texas county claimed the lives of two newlyweds who had just left their wedding, reports CBS San Antonio affiliate KENS-TV.

The National Transportation Safety Board will release details about the crash next week. "Our hearts hurt now, but we know this is not forever". Thousands of people commented on her post to express sorrow.

On social media, wedding attendees have been posting their condolences in the captions of wedding photos. Other videos showed Ackerman, wearing her white wedding gown, dancing with her bridesmaids and kissing her Byler seating in a chair at their wedding reception earlier in the evening.

'Bailee Ackerman Byler of Orangefield and William Troy Byler III of Bellville passed away last night.

Ackerman announced the engagement on Facebook on December 29, 2017, with a photo of the pair beaming, and Ackerman holding up her left hand to show off her ring.
