Amazon drops free-shipping minimum for all customers

Free Shipping This Holiday: All Amazon customers can shop hundreds of millions of items including every product category with free shipping, and now for a limited time, there is no minimum purchase amount on orders delivered through the holiday season. The Amazon help page explains that delivery will take five-to-eight working days and then only after all the items in your order are available, including pre-ordered products.

"This holiday, customers can enjoy free shipping with no minimum purchase amount on orders that will arrive in time for Christmas, including items from Amazon's expertly curated Gift Guides across electronics, fashion, home and toys", said Doug Herrington, Senior Vice President of North American Retail at Amazon.

This is the first time Amazon is offering such an offer, though the company had free shipping for orders over $25 a year ago.

While this offer will undoubtedly come in handy on Black Friday, you can start taking advantage of it now. Target dropped its $35 minimum for free two-day shipping during the holidays.

If anyone does not have Prime and wants to try it, Amazon is willing to offer free trials even while this free shipping promotion runs its course. It's hard not to say that Amazon's the one driving this bus, since the company has millions of people paying the company a tidy sum each year for their own version of free shipping (among other services, such as streaming video and music). Target announced last month it would offer free two-day shipping on all orders from November 1 to December 22.

Amazon is hoping increase sales after the company's revenue projection for the rest of the year fell below some estimates.
