Mookie Betts Fed the Homeless After Game 2 of the World Series

Los Angeles fans are seeing a silver lining to the Dodgers' 0-2 World Series start. The National League, originally founded in 1876, consists of the following teams: Arizona Diamondbacks; Atlanta Braves; Chicago Cubs; Cincinnati Reds; Colorado Rockies; Los Angeles Dodgers; Miami Marlins; Milwaukee Brewers; New York Mets; Philadelphia Phillies; Pittsburgh Pirates; San Diego Padres; San Francisco Giants; St. Louis Cardinals; and Washington Nationals.

In going against left-handers Chris Sale and David Price in the first two games of the series, Roberts left the four team leaders in home runs during the regular season - Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger, Joc Pederson and Yasmani Grandal - out of the starting lineup. Which means Martinez has to play in the outfield. He opened two games a year ago against the Astros, allowing two earned runs in 8 2/3 innings without getting a decision.

The Boston Red Sox are in fact now leading the series 2-0 heading into the third game tonight. The Red Sox won the first two games in Boston on the strength of two-out rallies and dominant pitching. He's 4-for-8 with a walk, stolen base, and three runs scored.

This comes hours after reported that Martinez's status was in question for the game Friday due to an ankle injury.

Still, he's not ruling out J.D. for Game 3 entirely. He stayed in, then delivered a key hit Wednesday night in Game 2 at Fenway Park.

Red Sox star Mookie Betts has received plenty of praise for his play on the field this season. The manager said Martinez would get more treatment Friday, and a decision would be made as gametime approached.

Or maybe these Dodgers, as advanced analytically as any team in the industry, will find a way to tap into Roberts' memories of being a member of the 2004 Red Sox, who wiped out not just a 2-0 deficit but a 3-0 hole - the only baseball team ever to pull that off - to the Yankees in that ALCS.
