The three new tabs in Messenger 4 will be - Chats, People and Discover.

The updated Messenger also allows you to customize the color of chat bubbles in your conversations with color gradients.

The company states that it will add other new features in the near future such as Dark Mode, a re-skinned interface that cuts down on the glare from your phone.

So starting today, Messenger is globally rolling out an understated redesign globally over the next few weeks. The company says it has about 1.3B global users and they have been providing feedback on new features and changes they'd like to see.

Background: Facebook first talked about this update back in May during the "F8" conference, and the update was supposed to arrive earlier this year, during the Summer, but it got postponed a bit it seems.

Facebook and its Messenger evolved since their birth. The discover tab makes it easier for the people to connect with businesses. The company claims that the new Messenger app will offer a simplified experience to the users.

Now you can easily share your selfies, any picture or videos via messenger easily and all you have to do is click on the feature like a camera on the top of the app or the page.

Social networking giant Facebook has rolled out a revamped version of its Messenger app, offering a simpler UI that puts the focus back on your chats. "It's a smart move for Facebook to begin dominating the chat space - with Messenger and chat apps bringing brands closer to consumers and in a more personalized manner, more so than email these days", says DeFazio.

And although we are happy about the changes that are rolling out worldwide over the coming weeks, it's still just a chat app.

Welcome to the new Messenger.

As the name suggests, Chats is where all of your messages live and where you start out when you open the app. People is where you can find the list of Facebook friends that are now online and where you can search through your entire friends list. It will add a chat customization called "color gradients".

"In a recent Messenger study, seven out of 10 (71 percent) people told us simplicity is the top priority for them in a messaging app". Cool, isn't it? The colors of the chat bubbles change as you scroll up and down in a conversation. " said Stan Chudnovsky, VP of Messenger, Facebook".
