One person has been arrested after police found a baby, who appeared to have been stabbed, inside an oven at a MS home.
Bolivar County Sheriff Kelvin Williams told local news outlets the 20-month-old girl had also been stabbed when she was found dead Monday night in Shaw.
Williams said Jones' brother found the body Monday night and called police in Shaw, a town of about 2,000 people approximately 100 miles (160 kilometres) northwest of Jackson.
An autopsy will be performed to determine whether the child died before being placed in the oven, authorities said.
Williams said he struggled to make sense of the heinous act.
Williams said deputies detained the grandmother for questioning and had held her overnight.

The relative found the toddler's body inside the oven. "It's trying for us to come upon a scene and see a victim such as this", Sheriff Kelvin Williams said to Metro.
A stroller, a high chair, and a trash barrel of toys were seen in front of the house this morning after police had placed tape around the home. Jones's bond was set at $500,000.
Williams said he won't release the names of the grandmother or the toddler until the filing of the murder charge is completed.
WLOX reported that the girl's body has been sent to the Mississippi state crime lab for an autopsy and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the state crime lab have been called to investigate.
