EPL: Wenger speaks on Arsenal giving Ramsey 'huge contract' in January

However, negotiations to extend his current contract at the Emirates broke down recently with the Gunners board having withdrawn their offer of a new deal.

United and Liverpool are tipped to submit bids for Ramsey in January, while Juventus and AC Milan are poised to enter talks with the midfielder.

One name that has cropped up rather predictably is Arsenal's soon-to-be-out-of-contract midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Wenger feels the 27-year-old is in a strong position at Arsenal despite the club withdrawing a contract offer.

Last week, he said: "We tried that before and it still can happen".

Arsenal are set to return to domestic action on October 22 with a home date against Leicester.

A member of the club's "Invincibles" side which tasted title glory in 2003-04 told the Express: "For the moment I am very happy, of course, for the club because I am an ambassador for Arsenal but especially for Unai Emery because he's a great manager".

The report suggests that Unai Emery is long-term admirer of the midfielder, who has a different style to that of Aaron Ramsey, but his workrate and impressive performances when played make him a top target of the Gunners Spanish boss.

"But I don't know how far Arsenal will go in terms of giving him a huge contract".

With a lack of creativity coming from midfield in recent weeks, there have been a few players linked with moving to Liverpool in January to help unlock some of the more stubborn outfits in the Premier League.

The Wales global did, however, score a contender for goal of the season during the Gunners 5-0 win over Fulham.
