The estimated prize is just shy of the all-time game record of $656 million set in 2012. There were 2,651,183 "winning" tickets at all prize levels in the October 12 drawing. Since the jackpot reset in July there have been 17.5 million winning tickets at all the prize levels, with 25 winners taking home prizes of $1 million or more.

Since the Mt. Juliet victor added the Power Play option for an extra dollar, the base prize of $50,000 was tripled, as the multiplier number last night was three. Combined with the Powerball jackpot, which is now at $345 million, the jackpots have reached a total of $999 million.

Mega Millions is played in 44 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
