As the Miami Heat continue to push for a trade that would bring Jimmy Butler to Miami, Butler returned to Timberwolves practice on Wednesday.

Butler made an appearance at the Timberwolves facility for the first time this offseason on Monday, per The Athletic's Jon Krawczyinski.

Butler reportedly scrimmaged against the current starting unit with deep reserve players, and Butler's group dominated.

Minnesota and Miami advanced to the brink of a blockbuster trade for Butler over the weekend - only for the deal to fracture before completion, sources said. Thibodeau has said the team will try to make Butler happy, but has cautioned throughout the process that Minnesota will only do a deal that it deems is good for Minnesota.

Butler had not practiced with the team since September 25 when training camp started.

Do players around the league view the episode as something off-putting or as something that is a tribute to Butler's drive and desire to win? For what it's worth, Teague said the Wolves "played hard" at Wednesday's practice. Like it or not, it wasn't just then, so we can put that to rest.

Tucker and Gordon may not have the star power of four-time all-star Butler, but they both figure to be fundamental pieces in Houston's rotation this year. We want you here. Who is the most talented player on our team? We can't do this without you, " he said. This is my first interview - I haven't said anything to anybody, but when it comes out, it comes out. We can't do this without you.' And that was the disconnect all year long. Some would argue that those same things could be said about LeBron James, and perhaps that's part of the reason Butler doesn't want to align with James. "Actions speak louder than words".

When Butler initially demanded a trade from the land of Lake Minnetonka the Lakers weren't on his preferred list of teams. "I don't think it's distracting me, but maybe it is distracting some other guys".
