Julie Chen Quits 'The Talk,' Leaving in Wake of Les Moonves Scandal

According to CNN, two sources close to Chen said she will be leaving the panel chat show "effective immediately".

Julie Chen will officially step down from her role on CBS' "The Talk", according to sources with CNN.

By signing off through a videotaped message, Chen will sidestep any awkward conversations with her longtime co-hosts. Chen did indeed return to Big Brother, but she ended the episode by telling viewers, "I'm Julie Chen Moonves".

Chen, who also hosts Big Brother on CBS, closed out Thursday's double-elimination episode of the reality competition series voicing support for her husband without addressing the situation directly by saying, "from outside the Big Brother House with Brent, I'm Julie Chen Moonves".

Chen stayed on The Talk after the first wave of allegations came in July, all while publicly defend her husband.

It is said to have been the first time Chen has used her married name on the show shes been hosting for almost two decades. He's always been a kind, decent and moral human being. In a statement, she said she would be off for a few days, but she did not address the allegations against her husband. Leslie's a good man and loving father, a devoted husband and an inspiring corporate leader. "I fully support my husband and stand behind him".

Talk show host Wendy Williams was the latest to weigh in on Chen's decision to stand by her man at the cost of her career at CBS. Some of the incidents happened as recently as the early 2000s.

Chen's co-hosts on the "The Talk" addressed the Moonves allegations last week.

The TV titan had been married to Nancy Wieselfeld for 26 years when he left her for TV host Chen.
