Unai Emery demands 'personality' from Arsenal players - Premier League 2018

Ozil was left out of the Arsenal squad which faced West Ham last month and reports claimed he had been dropped after being told by Emery that he would be on the bench.

Emery finally started Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette together against Cardiff and it paid off as they were both on the score-sheet.

The former Germany global missed Arsenal's 3-1 Premier League win over London rivals West Ham United last month but returned to the team for the 3-2 victory over Cardiff City.

"Also I read this week in the newspapers in the match against Manchester City I say to the [groundsman], "Don't put water on the pitch" - it's not true!"

With Ozil having retired from global football, Emery has had a prolonged opportunity to work with his highest-profile and best-paid player over this past fortnight and is adamant that they do have a strong relationship.

Ahead of Unai Emery's media conference on Thursday, here's the latest team news update from our medical team.

Ozil's decision to remove himself from global selection with Germany means he has had time to rest and adapt to Emery's methods.

Goalkeeper: Once again, Petr Cech looked uncomfortable with the ball at his feet during the win over Cardiff City last time out but I still don't think Emery is going to bring in Bernd Leno just yet.

"For Mesut it is important, for me also, (to have) this focus every day with us".

Ozil has looked slightly out of place when Emery has deployed him on the right wing rather his normal central role as a No. 10, but Emery reiterated that the German is happy switching between the two.
