Spurs without Alli and Lloris for Liverpool clash

Lloris, who has endured a hard few weeks on a personal level after being fined £50,000 and receiving a 20-month driving ban following his pleading guilty to drink-driving, misses this weekend's game with a hamstring injury, while Alli suffered a knock during England's 2-1 defeat to Spain last weekend and misses out. Lloris has made 256 appearances with Tottenham since joining from the French club Lyon in 2012. The Daily Mail tabloid said Lloris registered 100 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath in a police check.

Pochettino said: "He already knew in the moment that it was a big mistake".

"Alli is a bit unlucky, he suffered a small injury after 20 minutes against Spain", Pochettino told Sky Sports. "Because he is clever he'll learn and now he is going to move on".

"Only we need to try, that he understands, and how he understands that it was a mistake".

"He's punishing himself. But of course we're not God, that we can judge people". Then we're all men and women and we can all make mistakes.

By 2am, he was "completely drunk", said Mr Sonn, who added that, when a taxi cancelled on him, he made the "unwise decision" to drive home. That is why I said to Sonny "I'm waiting for my present".

"I am learning a lot!"

It seems likely both Spurs' captain and Alli will miss Tuesday's Champions League Group B match at Inter Milan too.

"And of course you learn that today football is not only what happens on the pitch, it's many things that happen around and we need to be ready to deal with all these situations that in the end affect the result on the pitch".

France's World Cup-winning captain Lloris is "expected to be out for several weeks" with a thigh injury according to the club, while manager Mauricio Pochettino is more hopeful Alli could return in time for the trip to Brighton on Sep 22. I am not disappointed with him.
