Arsenal boss Unai Emery insists he works well with Mesut Ozil and says the German's retirement from worldwide football will benefit the Gunners.

It has not been the most serene period of Özil's career and he has just experienced a quiet worldwide break without involvement in Germany's squad since his complex withdrawal from the scene.

Arsenal manager Emery said he enjoyed a "relaxing" three days with Ozil in training after the player's retirement from worldwide football meant he did not depart with the Germany squad last week. 'I want to find with him the possibility to do the best, to make decisive passes, to do more near and in the box to score.

Emery discussed how the experienced defender has progressively improved since his time in Spain, highlighting just why he remains an integral part of his plans at Arsenal.

Granit Xhaka continues to split opinion among the fans as while he's so important to our build-up play, he is a liability when we're not in possession.

He was left out of last month's win over West Ham but Emery said at the time the absence was due to illness.

He suggested the 29-year-old playmaker had been in a positive frame of mind during the worldwide break, even though it was unusual to be outside that habit of representing his country.

Goalkeeper: Once again, Petr Cech looked uncomfortable with the ball at his feet during the win over Cardiff City last time out but I still don't think Emery is going to bring in Bernd Leno just yet. After six years here, I came and I know him as a new Nacho Monreal. "In this process, we will work, we will help him, give him the possibility on the pitch to be together, to find his qualities for us".
