Pogba leads Manchester United to winning Premier League start

Manchester United hope to appoint a director of football once the club completes its current restructure.

Jose Mourinho received an instant reward for handing Paul Pogba the captain's armband when the World Cup-winning midfielder paved the way for Manchester United's 2-1 win over Leicester City as the Premier League season opened on Friday.

Pogba scored as France beat Croatia 4-2 in the final to win the World Cup in July for the second time.

"I'll always give my best to the fans and my teammates no matter what's going on", the tweet read.

He was then replaced by Rachid Ghezzal in the 63 minute which made him the first player to be substituted in the 2018-19 Premier League season. The Foxes spent the summer upgrading their defense, signing Jonny Evans and Ricardo Pereira to shore up a defense that allowed 60 goals last season, the fifth most in the Premier League.

Other fans were not so sympathetic.

"You have to know one thing".

Mourinho has consistently complained in recent weeks over his lack of backing from the United board and also had a host of injuries and players lacking match sharpness after the World Cup to contend with.

Despite having their own well-formulated attacks, Mourinho's side often found themselves on the back foot and defending for long bouts of the game.Throughout the seasons, we have become used to an overtly attacking Manchester United side with a strong line of defence.

This put them in a comfortable position throughout the rest of the match, and even more so when Luke Shaw tapped home in an unorthodox manner in the second half.

"I came from the academy, I played for the first team".

"But I told the players we had very good periods, we had lots of glimpses of the football we wanted to play".

'But he just lifts it over Kasper Schmeichel and when they lift it to the upper part of the net, keepers never get them'. "Paul was fantastic. His contribution was unbelievable".

The comments from the Portuguese and Pogba are sure to see contentment behind the scenes come under bigger focus, but Friday's win was a welcome boost at a time of apparent discontent.

"After that, we needed to be more clinical to finish our good moves and we could have had another result".
