Samsung Galaxy Note9 is up for pre-order in India

Samsung is betting everything on the Galaxy Note 9 in a saturated market where all smartphones are more or less the same. That means an all-day battery (whatever that means, in technical terms), alongside 128GB and 512GB variants.

But if you are not in the market for wearables, Samsung has two more launch offer options - INR 6,000 ($87) cashback through HDFC Bank or no cost EMI from INR 5,5657.57 ($82) each month.

Also notable is are the RAM and storage, which now start at 6 GB /128 GB but are upgradable to 8 GB / and 512GB, not to mention another 512GB that could be added with an upcoming MicroSD card. It might not be for everyone, but on the whole it looks like Samsung's "elegant design" promise may actually have come to fruition. By default, that opens the camera (even when the Note 9 is asleep).

4K video recording, together with super-slow-motion HD video to a maximum 960fps is also possible. With 7nm semiconductor fabrication techniques not quite ready for mass production, Samsung uses its 10nm eight-core Exynos 9810 system-on-chip in EMEA regions, and Qualcomm's 10nm Snapdragon 845 SoC in the Americas and China. If the image is out of focus, or if the device detects that a subject in the frame has blinked at the moment of capture, it will notify you of this.

The camera will also offer a warning if someone blinked in a shot, or if the image is blurry.

"S Pen can control anything, from YouTube or photo gallery to operating the phone camera". But that's not all. If the pen does die, it can still be used as a regular capacity S Pen like older models. Samsung showcased this last one on stage in real time, showing us that there's no limit to the size of the presentation itself.

Before we get to more pricing details, let's quickly recap the specs.

The S-Pen can be recharges in the phone, with 30 seconds of charging offering 30 minutes of charge.

You will be able to use the automatic switching and setup services on Samsung devices even if you don't have a Spotify Premium account: "Spotify users on both Free or Premium will have access to the Samsung multi-device integration across mobile, speakers and TV". The anything-but-the-Note 9 brigade. With the Note 9, you no longer need the dock - just a USB-C to HDMI cable to connect to your external monitor. You know that. Samsung knows that. There's no word on United Kingdom pricing, but those dongles are $50 (£39) in the States. Since there is a chance you've barely owned that phone and don't want to, what about a Galaxy S8? It still has all the same features as before from the looks of things, like using the phone as a touchpad for the big screen, in case you liked those.

Sounding the bugle for its annual warfare with Apple right on its home turf, Samsung on Thursday launched its flagship Galaxy Note 9 - a device with a mammoth 1TB memory, bigger battery and a Bluetooth-equipped S Pen.
