A solar eclipse occurs when the moon gets between Earth and the sun, and the moon casts a shadow over Earth.
The current solar eclipse (surya grahan) will be a partial solar eclipse. The solar eclipse will take place on August 11, 2018 and will be visible to only some parts of the globe- countries that lie in the northern hemisphere of the globe.
On August 11, a part of the Sun will appear to be covered by the Moon's shadow. The peak of the eclipse will be around 11:46am CEST, ending around 1:30pm CEST.
A solar eclipse is damaging to the eyes as looking at the Sun can cause what's known as "eclipse blindness".
Where can you see it?
Of course, if you happen to be in the zone of visibility for this eclipse, NEVER look directly at the sun (unless you are using approved filters or eclipse glasses).More news: Turkey Lira crisis in pictures: Locals sell wealth to save currency

People are also advised not to eat during solar eclipse.
What is a partial solar eclipse? You'll have to wait until January 21, 2019 for the next eclipse.
In this particular solar eclipse, the Sun will reportedly be obscured by the Moon for a total period of three and a half hours on August 11, 2018.
During the lunar eclipse, the moon crossed the ecliptic - the apparent path of the sun in our sky - while at full phase on July 27, resulting in our natural satellite passing through the shadow of the Earth (hence the total lunar eclipse).
The August eclipse began over the cold North Atlantic and Greenland before moving in a northeast direction. According to the map, the partial solar eclipse will be seen over the North Pole and eastern parts of Siberia. Depending on where one lives, the sun will be partially hidden behind the moon. So that's two eclipses, one solar and one lunar, linked by the moon's orbit. If done otherwise, it will still remain a good idea not just limited to solar eclipse.
One of the easiest and most cost effective ways to view the eclipse is to make a pinhole camera at home to safely watch the eclipse.
