Dennis Shields dead: Bethenny Frankel's beau's wife breaks silence on tragic death

Heartbreaking news struck today when Dennis Shields, Bethenny Frankel's ex-boyfriend, was found dead in his Trump Tower apartment.

Bethenny Frankel is mourning the loss of her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Dennis Shields.

"[Police] learned his assistant had administered Narcan but was unsuccessful in reviving him", TMZ reported.

The medical examiner confirmed to Fox News that the man was Shields, its office is now investigating the cause of death and are awaiting an autopsy.

Shields, who had been friends with Frankel for almost 30 years before they began dating in 2016, lost consciousness before the medication could kick in.

His estranged wife Jill Schwartzberg Shields told Fox News: "Dennis' family is devastated by this awful news".

Shields had recently spoken to tv host Steve Harvey to say that his relationship with Frankel was sometimes hard. The Office of Chief Medical Examiner of the City of NY spokesperson told E! "Please respect our family's privacy at this time". Shields did make a few appearances on this season of RHONY, where fans got to witness firsthand the ups and downs of his relationship with Frankel.

"I am sure this does not come as a surprise to any of the viewers, all of whom have been supportive, encouraging, and kind", she said in a statement to PEOPLE.

Bethenny recently opened up about her relationship with the banker during an interview with Steve Harvey on his talk show, although she didn't name him.

A spokeswoman for the New York City medical examiner's office has identified the man as Dennis Shields.

Bethenny has not yet publicly commented. Sonja added that the event especially made her sad because the tragedies seem "to be never-ending for [Bethenny]". If both people aren't happy about it but slightly uncomfortable and giving up something or giving in [to] something, it doesn't work.
