The voice of BB8 is now the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog was a giant hit after debuting on the SEGA Genesis in 1991.

Previously announced cast members include WestWorld and Hop's James Marsden along with Tika Sumpter who has featured in the likes of Gossip Girl and Law & Order. Standard Sonic stuff then. He'll be filling in for Roger Craig Smith, who usually voices the character in various games, as well as Wreck-it Ralph.

Here's a bit of movie casting that you didn't think of, yet kind of makes sense-Variety reports that Ben Schwartz of House of Lies and Parks and Recreation fame will voice the titular blue hedgehog in the Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie. However, we all know who the most ridiculous cartoon character brought to life by Schwartz is. On top of that, Schwartz also provides the voice of the blue clad Dewey Duck on Disney XD's revamp of DuckTales. Hopefully we'll be hearing more about this perplexing movie as production continues.

Sonic the Hedgehog is scheduled for a 15th November 2019 release in cinemas, telling the tale of Sonic's quest to defeat Doctor Robotnik, release innocent imprisoned animals and take back the Chaos Emeralds. Deadpool director Tim Miller is the executive producer for the film, while Jeff Fowler will direct.
