New PS4 Pro Model Celebrates 500 Million PlayStations Sold

The PlayStation brand has sold over 500 million consoles, and Sony is celebrating with perhaps their prettiest PS4 model ever. It's a new translucent dark blue version of the console that will be limited to 50,000 units worldwide. To celebrate this milestone, the company is launching a translucent blue PlayStation 4 Pro, with a lineup of matching accessories to go along with it.

Those of you lucky enough to snap one up will also receive a commemorative copper plate, featuring a limited edition serial number.

Unfortunately, only a select few will be able to get their hands on the 500 Million Edition PS4 Pro, as the $500 system will be limited to 50,000 units worldwide.

Sony has never been bashful when it comes to sales numbers for its PlayStation 4 consoles. The limited console is a translucent blue color with sleek copper accents that brings to mind the streak of translucent consoles, controllers, and handhelds that graced the '90s and early '00s.

Sony said that certain "extra special" units will also pop up for lucky buyers with serial numbers like 09995 (the U.S. launch date of the first PlayStation) and 01013, representing the October 13, 2016 USA release date of the PS VR. This fetching finish allows you to see the PS4 Pro's (and controller's) innards, and there's even a plaque on the front of the device emblazoned with its serial number. Another serial number to keep an eye out for is 01013, which is the United States launch date of PSVR. Not only that it is also accompanied by DualShock 4 wireless controller and mono headset; both with matching translucent body.
