‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Actor Dave Bautista Calls James Gunn Firing ‘Nauseating’


The studio has not released any updates on the status of the third film since severing ties with Gunn, despite the fact that he had submitted a finished draft of the Volume 3 script before his termination.

Of all the many question marks now lingering over Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (and believe us, there are a few), many are beginning to wonder if Dave Bautista will ever reprise the role of Drax the Destroyer.

Wrestler-turned-actor Dave Bautista put a verbal smackdown on Disney over the firing of writer-director James Gunn.

Update: Dave Bautista has doubled down on his stance in a new interview, threatening to leave the Guardians of the Galaxy films.

Bautista just Tweeted on August 5th that he would do what he was "legally obligated to do".

He added, " Its also pretty nauseating to work for someone who'd empower a smear campaign by fascists", referring to the conservative personalities that uncovered the old tweets that got Gunn fired.

Gunn was sacked after a handful of almost decade-old tweets resurfaced in which he made lewd jokes pertaining to pedophilia and rape.

Disney terminated Mr. Gunn's contract in late July after his years of pedophile tweets threatened its family-friendly brand. Many viewed Disney's firing of Gunn as capitulation to Cernovich and his followers. "This is bulls--. James is one of the kindest, most decent people I've met".

The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor concluded, "He has a wonderful heart and a wonderful mind". On the one hand, if you've spent the better part of the past decade building a character, you probably want to see that journey through to the end.

"It's sad [what happened to Mr. Gunn]", Mr. Russell, 67, said. "I hope he is forgiven".

Guardians of the Galaxy was previously set to begin shooting in Atlanta in the fall.
