Samsung launches Galaxy Tab S4

Although the Tab A lacks all the bells and whistles of its more premium counterpart, Samsung is marketing it to a much broader audience - one that theoretically doesn't need peak performance and top-of-the-line features.

The Galaxy Tab S4 WiFi version will be available in the United States starting at $649.99 on August 10, 2018 at Amazon, Best Buy and Samsung.com.

Also, under the Tab A's hood is a mid-tier Snapdragon 450 processor, as opposed to the S4's more powerful octa-core Snapdragon 835. The 64GB variant is said to be priced at $650, while the 256GB storage model has been priced at $750.

The tablet features 13 megapixels rear camera with LED flash and 5 megapixels front camera.

The Galaxy Tab S4 boasts a 7,300mAh battery with fast charging support and utilises Android 8.1. Starting at $649 (approximately Rs 44,300), the Tab S4 just undercuts the Apple iPad Pro.

The screen size of the Tab S4 is similar to that of the S3.

"The Galaxy Tab A 10.5" features a WUXGA TFT LCD display that pushes a respectable 1920×1200 resolution in a 16:10 aspect ratio. In the corners, Samsung located four speakers that were tuned by AKG and support Dolby Atmos technology. This is made possible due to the fact that Samsung is bringing the DeX experience to its tablet family for the first time.

The company spent 8 trillion won (7.2 billion USA dollars) in capital expenditure in the second quarter, including 6.1 trillion won (5.5 billion US dollars) for the chip business and 1.1 trillion won (984 million US dollars) for the display panel division.

DeX can also let the Tab S4 hook up to external monitors for dual-display productivity work with a separate USB Type-C to HDMI adapter.

The company has officially announced the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 which, as the name suggests, boasts a 10.5-inch display. Samsung claims that the battery of Tab S4 is capable of providing up to 16 hours of video playback. It can also be used to navigate, translate and organize notes through Samsung Notes, and even send personalized texts through Samsung Live Message. Users will also be able to send personalized texts through Samsung Live Message with the S Pen.

The overall tablet market has been in decline but tablets catering to professionals and the enterprise has been increasing, Samsung officials told ZDNet.
