In addition to Greenwich, WNV positive mosquito pools have been found in Bridgeport, Darien, Easton, New Canaan, Stamford, Stratford Waterbury and West Haven. Soucy added, "We have West Nile in the state every year".
Even though Central Texas experienced an extreme heat wave and drought over the last couple weeks, mosquito populations are usually not impacted by these weather conditions. So far zero human cases have been reported.

West Nile virus is transmitted through the bite of a mosquito, commonly called a house mosquito, which has picked up the virus by feeding on an infected bird.
