Predictions for the World Cup semifinals

As the hysteria back home following Saturday's quarter-final win proves, so are the rest of us - and long may it continue, well, for at least another week.

Maguire, however, insists that the Three Lions are mainly focused on themselves.

There have been several star performers for all the teams involved in the mix and some of them have particularly stood out from the rest of the pack owing to a number of memorable performances that helped their teams book their place in the last four of the competition.

Goldman Sachs' World Cup quant model has revised its predictions for the winners of the World Cup after previous front runners Brazil and Germany crashed out of the tournament. "The delivery from wide areas in general is key, particularly from the right-hand side as Kieran Trippier's delivery is one of the best at the World Cup".

Former worldwide Mario Stanic remembers perfectly the defeat to eventual winners France in the 1998 semi-final, although he would rather not.

The two that expected semifinal berths are France and Belgium, and they will be the first semifinal matchup.

England are in their third World Cup semi-final, with all three coming in Europe: on home soil in 1966, at Italy 1990 and Russian Federation 2018.

Federation Internationale de Football Association awards the titles for the tournament's top scorer, best player, best goalkeeper, most disciplined team and best young footballer after the final. In 2002, 2006 and 2014 they were eliminated in the group stages, and they failed to qualify for the 2010 tournament.

Dalic blamed Croatia's opponents for smothering the creative talents of Luka Modric and said he expected a more open match against England in Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium tomorrow.

England's Harry Kane is the tournament's top scorer with six goals.

After a pair of the quarterfinal matches played on July 6, team France enjoyed a confident defeat of 2-0 over Uruguay in the city of Nizhny Novgorod, while Belgium went for 2-1 win over the legendary Brazilian team in the city of Kazan.
