This will be the first of Microsoft's Surface tablets with USB Type-C.

With a touch-sensitive screen, the Surface Pro has a 3: 2 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1800x1200 pixels. The processor is a dual-core seventh-generation model, which Microsoft says was chosen because of its balance between performance, battery life, and thermal properties that allow for a thin, fanless design. That means Surface Go has everything you would expect from a Windows 10 machine, from features like Windows Hello (signing in with facial recognition) all the way to supporting decades of third-party apps. They'll cost a premium $129 over the regular $99 for the Surface Keyboard cover, each of which connect to the Go using the Surface connector.

Also, a document posted to Reddit on Sunday (July 8) points to a "New Microsoft Hardware Display and Type Cover set on Friday, 7/13".

Microsoft talks about the new charger as well, which is apparently half the size of the usual Surface chargers, capable of charging your Surface Go device from 0% to 100% in 2 hours with Intelligent Charging. Microsoft promises the Surface Go can handle productivity apps like Office and casual apps like Spotify and Netflix.

The iPad starts at $329, but when you add an Apple Pencil and Logitech keyboard, the total zooms up to $527.95.

So Microsoft Malaysia has just announced Surface Go's availability for Malaysia on 2 August 2018, there's no local price revealed yet but in the U.S. the manufacturer's suggested retail price is just $399.

The Surface Go will be available for pre-order in Malaysia starting the 2nd of August 2018. Just for fun, we've tossed in the CPU Microsoft shipped in the original, high-end Surface Pro. This can be disabled for free, likewise, commercial SKUs with Windows 10 Pro can be configured to enable S Mode for free.

Finally, the Surface Book when paired with its Type cover gives a more hands-on approach for working when compared to a standalone iPad.

While the base variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage costs $399, the high-end variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is priced at $549. There's nearly a Surface for everyone; ranging from the exquisite and incredibly expensive Microsoft Surface Studio to the luxurious, powerful and portable Surface Laptop, with all sorts of variations in between. The base model has a pretty weedy spec for something that has to run Windows 10 (even its S version).

It'll be notable if the tablet does have a USB-C port, since previous Surface tablets required a proprietary Microsoft adapter for charging and data. One of the earliest incarnations of the Surface line, the Surface RT, fared poorly. Now its time for Microsoft to bring a Windows 10 alternative to the $399 Apple iPad.
