Former Trump aide Lewandowski mocks immigrant child with Down syndrome

Lewandowski then interrupted him with a "Womp womp".

And just when you thought the level of heartlessness surrounding this issue had reached its peak, former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski opened his mouth during a Tuesday segment on Fox News.

Zac Petkanas, a Democratic strategist, was telling the story when Lewandowski said "womp womp" and rolled his eyes. Lewandowski had said prior to Petkanas relaying the story of the girl with Down syndrome that "as soon as you cross the border illegally, you have committed an act which is a disservice to all of the people who have stood in line and waited to get into this country legally".

Lewandowski talked over Petkanas' response, saying, "What I said is you can pick anything you want, the bottom line is clear". The president has doubled down on his stance, maintaining the policy while falsely spewing blame at congressional Democrats.

"Did you say "womp womp" to a 10-year-old with Down syndrome?"

These tone-deaf comments come in the face of unsettling audio that was recently obtained from inside a U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility where an agent can be heard joking, "We have an orchestra here", as children cry in the background. Images and audio from the border, of crying children wrenched from their families by government officials, have sparked serious uproar over President Trump's "zero-tolerance policy". The Trump policy is now ripping children from their parents at a rate of 65 per day according to the statistics cited by Vox.
