Ted Cruz emerging victorious, winning over TV host Jimmy Kimmel 11 to 9.

UNIDENTIFIED PERSON: It's American versus Canadian, baller versus blobfish, Kimmel versus Cruz - the blobfish basketball classic.

After comparing Cruz's appearance to that of a blobfish after Game 7 of the Western Conference finals between the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors, Kimmel was challenged by the senator to a game of hoops, according to ABC13.

Cruz, who famously called a basketball hoop a "ring" in an ill-fated Hoosiers reference in IN during a failed presidential bid, first challenged Kimmel to the game during the NBA playoffs.

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel is set to take on Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz in a one-on-one basketball game Saturday.

"I wanted to humiliate him in front of his people he loves most", Kimmel told ABC station KTRK. The game will be incorporated into Kimmel's show Monday night.

Hours before tipoff, the late-night talk show host - confident and sporting a spanking new pair of red James Harden model Adidas sneakers - admitted the spectacle wouldn't be about technique or athleticism, only saying that he is "good at defense".

With Cruz having won the contest, the prize money will be donated to Generation One.

Two Houston charities are the beneficiaries. The game is a charity benefit with the loser donating $5,000 to an organization of the winner's choice. I'll accept on one condition - we both wear very short shorts, which will be great, right? "If there's anyone you want to have a beef with, it's Ted Cruz". While Kimmel has the height advantage, Cruz might have the skill advantage. If he goes up to dunk, I'll pull his shorts to the ground rather than let him get to the rim.

"Do you have any advice for me in this one-on-one game with Ted Cruz?" he asked, fresh off the athlete's sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
