Thomas Markle, the father of Britain's new royal, said his son-in-law Prince Harry had told him to give U.S. President Donald Trump a chance and Queen Elizabeth's grandson had also said he had an open mind about Britain's exit from the European Union.
Explaining why the Markles didn't get invites, he said, "Basically some 40/50/60 Markles came out of the woodwork all asking for invitations to the wedding and Meghan probably had the good sense to invite none because she would have offended the others".
He claimed Harry once told him to "give Donald Trump a chance".
"I've always had a bad attitude about Donald Trump and that's never going to change". I still like Harry. "That was his politics, I had my politics".
He said: "He strikes me as a gentleman, an intelligent young man and he also protects my daughter and anybody who protects my daughter I have to love and appreciated - and he does".
"It's been over the phone, we've had some interesting conversations on the phone".
"There was no real commitment to it".

He said of the fact his daughter would be the black member of the British royal family in modern history: "I think it's long overdue". "It was incredible watching her", he said. "That upsets me somewhat".
In the end, Meghan walked down the first part of the aisle unescorted, before she was joined by Charles, Harry's father and heir-to-the-throne.
Kensington Palace refused to comment on what Prince Harry reportedly told his father-in-law, the Daily Mail Said. But as soon as the military personnel Harry had put in charge of Thomas' transport called to let him know it was time to go, things went south.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Monday morning (UK time), the former lighting director revealed his "jealousy" of Prince Charles and private political conversations he's had with Harry. Prince Harry and Meghan, now known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are due to visit Australia this year for the Invictus games, one of the couple's first overseas trips as newlyweds. Thomas said he was "honoured" that Prince Charles stepped in to give Meghan away at the royal wedding after he was unable to attend.
