Kingdom Hearts III gets 2019 release date on Xbox One

The list of "Video Games That May Never Actually Release" has just lost one of its most prominent members.

A trailer released at last year's D23 Expo reset expectations for a release sometime in 2018, though we'll have to wait longer to see the likes of Big Hero 6 and Wreck-It Ralph join up with Woody and Buzz.

That seems like it would be a flawless announcement to hold for its press conference, but Square Enix instead opted to reveal the release date during the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour.

Square Enix made the announcement at 1:30am ET Sunday morning during the kickoff of the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra - World Tour, despite the fact that the company has an E3 press conference Monday morning. With the original Kingdom Hearts was released for PlayStation 2 back in 2002, Kingdom Hearts III is the 10th main game in the series. Kingdom Hearts II came out in 2006.

Nomura also said that we'll get more information about Kingdom Hearts 3 - including a few new trailers - at E3 2018.

Kingdom Hearts III is releasing on January 29.
