Arab League demands probe into Israeli crimes

Israeli and American officials could not have been so wrong; on the 70th anniversary of the creation of Israel, they hailed the opening of the United States embassy in Jerusalem as a step towards peace.

"It is disturbing to witness the violence erupting in Gaza protesting the move and to learn of the dozens killed", said Dr. Mitch Glaser, president of Chosen People Ministries and founding member of The Alliance for the Peace of Jerusalem, in a press release.

They also stressed that the transfer of the USA embassy to Jerusalem will threaten the region's stability and global peace and security.

The terror group denied that pressure from Egypt led to the dwindling down of riots at the Israeli-Gaza border on Tuesday, where only 4,000 Gazans had gathered compared to 50,000 on Monday, the day of the inauguration of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem. One Israeli soldier was reported wounded.

Today is an occasion to reflect on the costs and consequences of the 1948 war, which resulted in the mass displacement and dispossession of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homes.

- Supporting the decisions taken by the Palestinian leadership in defense of the rights of the Palestinian people at various levels and in response to the transfer of the US Embassy to Jerusalem, including accession to more global treaties and organizations, and referral of the Israeli crimes, including its colonial and settlement files, to the appropriate worldwide courts and mechanisms.

Pope Francis said he was "very worried" by escalating violence in the Middle East, with Arab foreign ministers set to hold an "extraordinary" meeting yesterday to discuss the situation.

Last week, the Israeli government claimed the ongoing border protests constitute a "state of war" in which global humanitarian law does not apply.

A bitter row over the deaths has erupted between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a strong backer of the Palestinian cause.

"I raised the issue of the massacre of Palestinians due to Israeli state terrorism in Gaza", Lodhi said while speaking to the media after her address at the UN General Assembly during the Sixth Review of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. "The marches will continue until our people achieve their goals", said Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum.

Palestinian security sources told Agence France-Presse the target was a Hamas base.

Israel has rejected criticism over Monday's violence, with the United States strongly backing its ally and blaming Hamas for the deaths.

Israel's envoy to Canada, Nimrod Barkan, said the IDF fact-finding investigation is independent and impartial.
