Anthony Martial: Knee injury needs to be assessed

Mourinho was forced to make changes to his side that beat Watford 1-0 on the final day of this season's Premier League at Old Trafford.

He will join the backroom team in the summer but not, for now at least, as a like-for-like heir to Rui Faria.

"17 years and the kid is now a man".

"In the future, when he has his badges, when he has his pro license". I have had 17 years of incredible and unforgettable experiences. "I'm going to have coaches, assistant coaches, fitness coaches and a structure where they have specialists in different areas connected to performance".

"If you said at this moment in time do you want to manage I'd probably say yes, I would yeah", Carrick said (via The Telegraph).

"I will play some players that didn't play on Thursday", Mourinho said. It is an unbelievable opportunity for me.

"I would also like to thank Manchester United and all the clubs where I have had the privilege of working during this period".

"He has been very successful for the club, one of the best midfielders in the last 10 years in the world, and he is a big loss".

"I know that Romelu will be back for Tuesday because he's in the last week [of rehabilitation] and we have to see but Anthony I have no more".

"My heartfelt thanks go to the manager, Jose Mourinho, for the belief he had in me, all those years ago, when it all was just a student dream".

"I have a lot of memories to cherish, some I'll never forget, especially of this place".

"On behalf of myself, a massive thank you to everyone for your support".

With an FA Cup final against Chelsea to come, Mourinho is happy his players showed sufficient commitment to end the season on a positive note, although he does not think their achievements are "enough to celebrate". The game was tightly contested with very few scoring opportunities but Marcus Rashford netted the victor in the 34th minute after a vintage pass from Michael Carrick in the lead up.

"He [Martial] is injured". "Injured Friday in a training session, yesterday couldn't train". "He had treatment in the morning at the training ground and then stayed away". And everybody told me we would get that point.

"I'm waiting for the doctor but when it's impossible to play today, I have my doubts [for the cup final]".

In their two seasons together in England, relations have been more restrained than the occasional immoderacy that characterised their time as respective managers of Barcelona and Real Madrid. "I'm sure he'll try to improve the level of the squad".
