Police also said the girl's mother was on the phone with her when she was "brutally attacked" after arriving home from school. What happened next remains unclear, but authorities say that a suspect, identified as French, ambushed and killed the teenager. That neighbor called 911 and, around 3 p.m. that afternoon, her dead body was discovered, as previously reported by CrimeOnline.

Sometime before Bagshaw's slaying, French lived with her family, Shearer said, though he did not know when exactly that happened.

Police on Monday had named French as "a person of interest" in the killing, and said they believed he may have fled the state.

French was tracked down and arrested Wednesday in southeast Colorado.

After the call disconnected, the mom phoned a neighbor and asked him to go check on Baleigh.

"I can't even guess what the mother would be going through right now", Shearer added.

According to Sgt. Brandon Shearer, French had been in a relationship with Bagshaw, and on Tuesday, police issued a warrant for him for three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. She was a good girl. "She had gotten the mail, and she was telling me about what came in the mail, and then all of a sudden she started screaming".

Officials said French had a previous sexual relationship with Bagshaw and had lived in her home for a time. "Our hearts and thoughts are with her", Shearer said. "And that's what makes everything so heartbreaking, honestly".

"She was really sweet", Gwendolyn Robinson, who works at Leatherby's, told Deseret News. "I couldn't hear anything other than her screams".

He is probably driving a camouflage-painted 1991 Daihatsu Rocky with Wyoming license plate #19-13974.

An online fundraiser has been set up for Baleigh Bagshaw's funeral costs.
