Portugal won Eurovision 2017 with Amar pelos dois, performed by Salvador Sobral, so this year, Lisbon hosts 42 other participating nations.

She performed live in the first semi-final tonight and was voted through into the final on Saturday night with her song Monsters. Her entry, Toy, has gained worldwide popularity and is considered a favorite to win.

Mauboy, who initially found fame as a finalist on Australian Idol in 2006, will be the opening contestant in Thursday's second semi-final with her song We Got Love.

Tomorrow the whole country will be cheering for our participant. Later that year, Eurovision organisers invited Australia back for the 2016 competition, and we've been participating ever since.

Greece was one of the 19 countries to take part in Tuesday's semi-final with Yianna Terzi performing Oneiro Mou (My Dream), but was unsuccessful.

As one of the so-called "big five" that give the most funding to the contest, the United Kingdom gets an automatic pass to the final along with four other countries and host nation Portugal.

Rylan can't help but feel for the acts that don't qualify tonight: "It's got to be very bad to have got this far and performed at the semis and not get through". Mango TV, China's national broadcaster, broadcast the show last night with a delay, but that's not without making a few edits and changes.

The 63rd annual contest of the world's longest-running worldwide television music competition will stage its semifinals Tuesday and Thursday in Lisbon, Portugal.
