Republican Lawmakers Nominate Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of SC said liberals would have a meltdown and commit suicide if President Donald Trump was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

The effort to win President Trump a new piece of gold kicked off in earnest Wednesday.

The letter specifically noted Trump's efforts to impose sanctions on foreign businesses and banks doing business with North Korea to get the authoritarian nation to drop its nuclear weapons program.

Trump's stalwart strategic posture led to a series of concessions from Kim, including a peace deal and an agreement to complete denuclearization secured during the historic meeting between the two Koreas last week. Besides a number of choking economic sanctions against the North, Trump was also never shy to directly threaten Pyongyang's leadership. Moon, too, suggested that Mr. Trump deserves the Nobel.

"It would have been unimaginable just a few weeks ago that the North Korean and South Korean leaders would even be talking let alone embracing in public", Messer said. In fairness, these 18 Republicans aren't the first ones to call for Trump to win a Nobel Peace Prize. The lawmakers who signed the letter are among the most conservative in the House.

It may be awarded to an individual or an organisation.

When Trump spoke about the breakthrough with North Korea during a rally in MI this weekend, the crowd began chanting, "Nobel, Nobel, Nobel". Furthermore, his true contribution to the resulting peace talks is debatable.

"No other president has been that blunt", he continued.

The victor of the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced this Friday, 4 May 2018. The Norwegian Nobel Committee, composed of five members from Norway's parliament, clearly has a political bent, and not in Trump's direction.
